Iran will never give up legitimate rights in return for incentives

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, May 14, IRNA
Iran-France-Draft Resolution
Iran will never give up its legitimate rights as stipulated by Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in return for a package of incentives offered by the European states, deputy head of Majlis Commission for National Security and Foreign Policy, Mohammad Nabi Roudaki said on Sunday.

He told reporters that France called for guarantee for securing Iran from military attack in its draft resolution to the Security Council in return for halting Research and Development (R&D).

He said that France also called for lifting the economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, as part of the incentives for Iran.

Roudaki, an MP from Shiraz, said that the resolution also envisaged supply of fuel for Iranian nuclear power plants.

He made it clear that the draft resolution demanded a complete halt to Iranian nuclear activities in the section of R&D for an unspecified period.

He said that every member state of Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) is entitled to conduct R&D for uranium enrichment and the Islamic Republic of Iran observes Safeguards Agreement of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

"There is no reason for France to demand that Iran gives up its rights as stipulated by NPT except for following the US lead and it is absolutely clear that Iran will never give up its legitimate rights," Roudaki said.
