Visiting Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar heading a high-ranking military delegation conferred here Thursday with the Azeri Parliament Speaker Oktay Asadov on expansion of mutual ties between the two countries.
At the meeting, the Azeri parliament speaker voiced his country's willingness to further broaden ties with other countries such as the Islamic Republic of Iran and called exchange of visits between the two sides' high ranking officials as very constructive to this end.
Negotiations conducted along with contracts signed between the two sides officials have prepared grounds for deepening ties between the two counties, he said expressing hope to witness further expansion of economic, cultural and moral ties between the two countries.
Given historical, cultural and spiritual commonalties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, he underlined the importance of ties between the two countries.
The Iranian minister attached importance to current level of cultural and spiritual relations between the two countries and said there are ample untapped potentials in various fields mainly in technical military and defensive industries.
Iran's defense minister heading a high-ranking military delegation is in Baku for an official three-day visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During his stay in Azerbaijan, Najjar will hold talks with senior Azeri political and military officials on prospects of mutual cooperation and will inspect the republic's military and educational centers.
