Iran-Mottaki-Palestinian Confab
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki here Sunday said that Iran neither calls for nor can accept anything beyond the rights to which it is entitled, according to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
On the sidelines of the Third International Conference on Qods and Support for the Rights of the Palestinian People, he told IRNA that this is a logical remark based on international laws.
"We have to proceed with confidence building measures and our nuclear dossier will prove whether we have been complying with our international commitments or those who are using nuclear weapons.
"If acting within the framework of the UN nuclear watchdog will strike a fair balance between the commitments and rights of the member states, it can be considered as a diplomatic and suitable strategy," he added.
Addressing the world hegemonic powers, the minister said that the era of unilateralism, bullying and threat has ended.
Stressing that Iran has repeatedly and openly declared its rejection of weapons of mass destruction, he said, "During eight years of the Iraqi-imposed war we proved that despite the enemy's use of chemical weapons, we did not even let ourselves employ such arms to stop the enemy. These weapons were made accessible to Saddam Hussein by over 200 American and European companies."
Mottaki said that the Zionist regime along with the multifaceted cooperation of some of the world big powers and the meaningful silence of the Western communities suppressed the most obvious rights of the Palestinian people and committed the worst atrocities in the birth place of religions.
"The genocide of Palestinian people, organized and assassination of Palestinian leaders, destruction of farms, torture of prisoners, Palestine's economic siege, continuing the construction of the Separating Wall and the Jewish settlements, sacrilege on the Muslims sanctities, in particular the Al-Aqsa Mosque, are examples of the crimes committed by the Zionist regime," said the minister.
Mottaki noted that many of the so-called human rights advocates, not only refuse to take any measure against the Zionist regime, but also stop their humanitarian aid to the victims and punish them on account of their recent democratic voting.
Condemning such a move, the minister said, "If the current situation continues, a human crisis will be witnessed in the Palestinian land in the future, for which supporters of the Zionist regime are to be blamed."
