3rd Int'l Conference on Palestine kicks off in Tehran

The Third International Conference on Qods and Support for the Rights of Palestinian People kicked off here Friday evening with a key note speech by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, Judiciary Chief Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi as well as domestic and foreign political and cultural figures are participating in the conference, organized upon the initiative of the Supreme Leader.
After Ayatollah Khamenei's speech, President Ahmadinejad is scheduled to address the conference.
The Malaysian parliament speaker, who is the rotatory head of the Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), s also expected to deliver a speech at the inaugural ceremony.
Moreover, the parliament speaker of Lebanon, as chairman of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union and the parliament speaker of Congo, as the rotatory head of the African Union and representative of African states and some Palestinian officials are also to deliver speeches.
The conference is attended by 600 foreign officials including 20 parliament speakers from Syria, Lebanon, Algeria, Sudan, Indonesia, Uganda, Cameroon, Congo, Zimbabwe, Sierra Leon, Cuba, Comoros, Madagascar, Malaysia, Qatar, Mauritania, Mauritius, the Seychelles, Sri Lanka and Guinea.
Eleven parliament vice-speakers from Libya, Palestine, Jordan, Morocco, Bahrain, Oman, Tunisia, the Philippines, Gambia, Togo and Senegal are also taking part in the conference.
Representatives from parliaments of South Africa, Kuwait, Russia, Mexico, Kenya, Somalia, Benin, Mali, Bosnia, Armenia and Albania are among other participants in the conference.
Researchers, writers, experts and university professors from Belgium, Australia, Ukraine, Russia, Kuwait, India, Syria, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Qatar, Tajikistan, Bosnia, Jordan, Libya and Algeria are also present in the Tehran conference.
Moreover, 200 foreign reporters residing in Tehran along with 50 foreign and 200 domestic reporters are covering the conference.
