Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday underlined that in order to prevent new crises in the region, Iran's nuclear dossier should be merely resolved through political negotiations.
Speaking to reporters after his meeting with his Jordanian counterpart, he said the issue should be resolved through a technical and specialized strategy.
Welcoming the visit of IAEA Chief Mohamed ElBaradei to Iran, he underlined that the Russian proposal for enrichment of Iranian uranium in Russian soil still is valid and negotiable.
To a question on Iran-US talks on Iraq's developments, he said "We welcome any contacts between the two countries (Iran-US) and believe that negotiations can prevent crisis in the region." He described his talks with his Jordanian counterpart on the issues of the Middle East, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Palestine as constructive.
