Iran-ElBaradei-Nuclear
A Western diplomat based at the UN nuclear watchdog said on Tuesday that the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohamed ElBaradei is likely to report Iran's nuclear activities to the UN Security Council (UNSC) on April 27.
In his recent non-binding legal statement, the UNSC head called on ElBaradei to submit a report on Iran's response to the Board of Governors' former requests.
Twenty days after holding sessions, the UN Security Council issued a nonbinding legal statement, in which it asked the IAEA chief to submit its report to the Board of Governors and keep the UNSC informed on it.
The diplomat added that at present, everything is going smoothly in the agency.
Concerning a possible IAEA session on Iran's nuclear program, he said that it is likely to be held once ElBaradei submits his report on the issue.
Meanwhile, he added that however, no Board of Governors member state has so far proposed to hold a special meeting.
According to the policy of the UN nuclear watchdog, such a meeting will only be held if one of the member countries calls for it.
