Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi said on Tuesday Iran's defensive capability is transparent and Tehran has no any secret plan concerning its national nuclear program.
Asked to comment on Iranian military exercise code-named 'Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)' and test-firing of the world's fastest torpedo in the same exercise, Asefi said that Iran's disclosure of its defensive capability to the world indicated that there is nothing secret in Iran in terms of manufacturing defensive hardware.
"Fair-minded people appreciate Iranian transparency. Iran has nothing to hide in the field of boosting its defensive capability and that bolstering military might is only for defensive purpose and targets no one," he said.
He said that the neighboring states are aware of Iran's policy of non-interference and fostering good neighborly relations, so they do not have any concern about Iranian defensive strength.
"Main concerns of the regional states are the presence of US forces in the region and nuclear arsenal of the Zionist regime." He said that Iran has never sought war with others and it proved this principle in the past three decades.
"Iran has always backed peace and security among nations in the region and showed its policy to that effect in practice."
Responding to a question on US claim that Iranian military exercise was a bluff, he said that no one can rely on US judgment about international affairs.
"Whatever the US has declared in the past have proved null and void. Even former Secretary of State Colin Powell admitted futility of US documentation on intelligence sources."
