Iran Test-Fires High-Speed Underwater Missile
April 3, 2006 -- Iran has said it has successfully test-fired a high-speed underwater missile.
State television reported April 2 that the missile has a speed of 100 meters per second and carries a powerful warhead capable of destroying big warships and submarines.
On March 31, Iran said it successfully test-fired a new short-range ground-to-ground missile that can evade radar. The missile is said to be capable of carrying a 45-kilogram warhead to a distance of more than 40 kilometers.
The U.S. State Department said the test demonstrated what it called Tehran's "aggressive military program."
