Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said in Geneva on Friday that Tehran favors dialogue to remove ambiguities and reach mutual understanding.

"We believe that dialogue to remove ambiguities and reach mutual understanding is the best way to settle Iran's nuclear problem," said Mottaki in an address to Geneva Security Policy Center.

Mottaki said, "In this line we are ready to hold dialogue under an equal condition of engagement and based on the legal and judicial regulations to logically get rid of the present conditions." He stressed, "We have not totally lost our hopes on the possibility for successful talks but this undoubtedly requires rebuilding of confidence by both sides."
He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has taken all the necessary measures to upgrade international confidence on its nuclear program and have full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The Iranian official said, "We have unfortunately faced disappointing measures and proposals on part of the Western states, despite Iran's constructive measures."
Mottaki noted that some states have had political motivations, concentrating their efforts on derailing the process of investigation of the case from its legal course.

He also accused the said states of having the UN Security Council deprive Iran of its legitimate and legal rights for peaceful use of nuclear energy by imposing their political will on the IAEA.

He said the only outcome of such illogical and unfair measures would be inflicting serious damage on the credit and impartiality of the international institutions, especially the IAEA, which are the most important international body to guarantee non-diversion of countries' nuclear activities towards military purposes and ensure eaceful use of energy worldwide based on NPT.

He stressed that Iran holds clear stances and principles to restore its legal and legitimate rights.

"We have been after building up confidence in our peaceful nuclear program and in this way have taken giant strides and will continue doing so. But absolutely we will not bow to pressures and intimidation and will by no means compromise our legitimate and legal rights," concluded Mottaki.
