UN's P5, Germany, EU agree on peaceful solution of Iran's nuclear row

Foreign ministers of the five permanent UN Security Council members, Germany and the European Union agreed on the need for a peaceful settlement of the Iranian nuclear dispute after their talks in Berlin on Thursday.

"The ministers agree unaltered on a diplomatic solution which is the objective of our joint efforts," said German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier during a news conference with his colleagues from China, France, Britain, Russia, the US and EU in Berlin on Friday.

Meanwhile US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice concurred with Steinmeier, by stressing negotiations was the right way and "not confrontation".

The ministers called on Iran to resume nuclear negotiations in an effort for a diplomatic solution to the crisis.
