China and Russia stressed again that the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency is the only proper forum to solve the Iranian nuclear dispute.

"The only way for a peaceful solution is based on the work of the IAEA," said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a joint news conference with his counterparts from China, France, Germany, Britain, the US and European Union in Berlin on Friday.

Meanwhile, China's Deputy Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo agreed with Lavrov by saying, "Today's meeting was very useful by underlining the role of the IAEA in solving the problem in Iran. It also underscores the diplomatic efforts in reaching the same objective." Dai added, "Time and support is needed to solve the problem in a peaceful manner."
Lavrov and Dai called also for "boosting the IAEA authority".

The foreign ministers of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council along with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, met in the German capital to discuss next steps in dealing with Iran's nuclear program.
