Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said in Geneva on Thursday that Iran was ready to continue its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Addressing the UN Conference on Disarmament, Mottai said Iran's nuclear programs were for peaceful purposes and that Tehran had never strayed into the path of banned activities.

He stressed that Iran will continue its cooperation with the IAEA.

He went on to say that the reporting of Iran's nuclear dossier to the UN Security Council was an instance of abuse of international mechnisms as it was unjustified and totally unaccepatable.

He said the move stemmed from certain governments' short-sighted political policies.

He reiterated Iran's determination to pursue peaceful nuclear energy and to access technology for this purpose in accordance with its indisputable right and that of other NPT signatories.

The one-day UN Conference on Disarmament will end in Geneva this afternoon.

Mottaki is scheduled to address a press conference after the meeting.
