UNSC-Iran-Nuclear
Five permanent member states of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) ended their fourth-round talks on Iran's nuclear program with no definite result here Tuesday.
The five veto-wielding states, the United States, Britain, France, Russia, and China, have held three rounds of unsuccessful talks in the past two days.
Russia and China are resisting a resolution from the other three members.
The US Ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton, who takes every opportunity to talk against Iran, answered the reporters' questions on Wednesday morning.
He said the permanent member states' negotiations continue Wednesday, and the outcome is reported to other UNSC members later in the day.
Bolton said the full council -- 15 members -- will resume talks in an informal meeting Thursday.
The envoy declined to set a possible date for the statement the UNSC chief is to issue.
Scott McClellan, the White House spokesman, who did not answer a question on his concern about differences between member states, told reporters talks will continue in New York.
Chinese Ambassador to the UN Wang Guangya said the Perm-5 have failed to find the way to break Iran's nuclear standoff.
The five member states plan to distribute their draft resolution among 10 other members to calm their protest.
France, Britain, and the US have invited other members to attend a session at the France mission Wednesday's afternoon.
