NPT member states enjoy right of nuclear energy: MP

All member states to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) enjoy the undeniable right to make use of nuclear energy, MP Alaeddin Boroujerdi said Sunday.
Boroujerdi, Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi made the statement in a meeting with accredited Ambassador of Singapore to Iran Gobinath Pillai.
He noted that Iran is committed to the international regulations stipulated by the NPT and respects the charter of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Tehran has called for other countries and private sectors to develop joint venture partnership with Iran on producing nuclear energy, he said, adding such an offer is considered as a unique across the world and is regarded as the most valuable 'objective guarantee'.
Elsewhere, he said that Iran would like to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields and economic cooperation in particular.
Commenting on the latest developments in the region, he considered the terrorist actions and insecurity in Iraq as the most important problems there and expressed hope that the Iraqi new government could restore security to this country.
Boroujerdi hailed the high turnout and Hamas victory in the recent Palestinian parliamentary election and termed it as a significant step and a prelude to restoring political stability to the region.
The Singaporean envoy Pillai, at the meeting, attached importance to Iran's status in the Middle East region and expressed hope that Iran's nuclear case to be resolved through diplomatic means and consultations.
He also urged promoting cooperation in scientific and economic fields given the bilateral ties have been growing in recent years.
