Iran-Nuclear-Larijani
Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani here Tuesday said that access to nuclear technology for peaceful purposes is the `ideal of all Iranians'.
Speaking at a meeting with the representatives of the Experts Assembly, he added that access to nuclear technology is `unanimously' supported by all political movements as well as the Iranian elite and nation.
According to a report released by the Public Relations Department of the 15th official meeting of the Experts Assembly, Larijani referred to the attempts underway to sow the seed of discord among the Iranian people and said that the West's efforts to this end are futile, given that people approach the issue consciously.
Expounding on the path of nuclear activities from the outset up to the present time, he said that it has been repeatedly underlined that Iran will not surrender its right.
Turning to Iran's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the secretary said that under the inspection of the nuclear watchdog, the process of nuclear activities have become quite favorable.
He pointed to the intention to continue cooperation with the IAEA and membership in the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in future and said, "We will not withdraw from our inalienable nuclear right. The announcement of the IAEA chief, Mohamed ElBaradei, that Iran has not deviated from peaceful nuclear path proves our good will and cooperation with the agency."
In another part of his remarks, he referred to the attempts underway to report the nuclear dossier to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and said that the West's rush to exert psychological pressure on Iran by report the case to the UNSC has clarified that the issue has become political, instead of being technical.
The SNSC secretary said that there is nothing wrong with the nuclear dossier from technical point of view.
"Sensitivity of the West to Iran's nuclear activities is rooted in the `hidden thought in Iran that is appealing to all Muslims, including Shiites and Sunnis, and even the war veterans of religious minorities'.
"Iran's nuclear technology guarantees the future development of the country. We will continue our peaceful nuclear activities and will never surrender our relevant rights," he added.
Larijani pointed to various phases of the country's nuclear issue and said that Iran has the honor to have gone through various stages of the program based on good will.
"However, our good will has been abused and attempts are underway to force Iran to suspend its nuclear program for peaceful purposes. It has been clarified that the West is reluctant to witness Iran's right be materialized.
Meanwhile, the official referred to the goal behind formation of the UN nuclear watchdog and said, "Nuclear disarmament and assistance to the countries not having access to peaceful nuclear technology are among its objectives. Nonetheless, despite Iran's membership in the agency and NPT, it has been provided with no help."
Larijani pointed to the US conspiracy against the Islamic Revolution and said that today, the US theory against Iran is `soft war', which is based upon two cornerstones of `creation of internal discord' and `external pressure to collapse domestic unity'.
