Larijani: Russia's proposal to be 1st victim of reporting nuclear case to UNSC

Iran-Nuclear-Russia
Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Secretary Ali Larijani on Thursday announced that if Iran's nuclear dossier is reported to the UN Security Council (UNSC), Russia's proposal to Iran on enrichment joint venture will be the first victim of such a move.
He told IRNA that apparently the US intends to have the dossier reported to the UNSC in any case and make the atmosphere critical, adding that the nuclear activities of Iran are merely used as a pretext to this end.
"This will make the regional situation more critical. Besides, it will prompt us to reduce our cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and continue our nuclear activities without complying with the formerly accepted commitments.
"In fact, the Russian proposed plan can be effective if the case is not reported to the UNSC," he added.
Turning to his talks with the Russian officials as constructive and effective, he said that Russia's proposal on enrichment joint venture needs to be completed in order to be considered along with a set of other cooperation plans after removing its ambiguities.
"We have submitted our proposed collaboration scheme to our Russian friends and await to hear their response to continue the relevant talks.
"We believe that by intending to report Iran's nuclear dossier to the UNSC, the US aims to make Europe and Russia withdraw and give Washington a chance to control the case," added Larijani.
He noted that the US administration certainly does not wish Russia to succeed.
"Therefore, contrary to what they pretend, they attempt to make Russia's proposed scheme fail.
"We are scheduled to hold talks with EU3 in Vienna. Given our belief that our nuclear programs are transparent and defendable, it is possible to reach fair and favorable results in a healthy atmosphere free from any threats and fears," he concluded.
Larijani and his entourage are currently in Moscow on a three-day visit to discuss Russia's proposed joint venture on enrichment in the Russian territory.
