Iran-Nuclear-Rowhani
The Supreme Leader's representative to the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), Hassan Rowhani, said here Wednesday that Iran is seeking to promote nuclear technology and has no need for nuclear weapons.
Addressing a group of clerics at the central province of Yazd, he said Iran's activities are legal and based on international regulations.
Muslims do not manufacture nuclear weapons since it is against their religious rules, he added.
The United States has 140 nuclear power plants and France generates 70 percent of its electricity via nuclear energy while making use of peaceful nuclear energy is prohibited for Iran, Rowhani argued.
The objective behind making use of nuclear energy by the Islamic Republic of Iran is economic growth and development, he said.
Doors of Iran's nuclear centers are open to inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), he noted adding that Tehran has observed diplomatic moral or in other words it has fulfilled its commitments.
"We should tolerate pressures but this does not mean that the world can make any decision it wants for us," he said.
Referring to religious-minded attitude of regional states, he said the West is concerned over such an attitude.
A wave has been created in the region which cannot be even prevented by the US, Rowhani who is former SNSC secretary said.
"They chose Iraq for their interests and for paving the ground for changes in other regional countries," he said adding that they have been trapped in such a quagmire that they could not even think of.
Referring to the recent conspiracy of the enemies of Islam in destroying holy sites of Muslims in Iraq, Rowhani said if grand ulama did not interfere in the issue there would be a big massacre in that occupied country.
The holy shrines of Imam Ali al-Naqi and Imam Hassan al-Askariya in Samarra, north of Baghdad, were bombed last Wednesday.
This was a pre-planned conspiracy by an intelligence agency, he said adding, "We know who they are."
"We are not interested in entering into a conflict with the world," he said concluding that the country's officials follow guidelines of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in making policies.
