Iran's representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency, Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh, said in Vienna Wednesday that the recent report of IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei indicates that the country's dossier must remain at the agency.
ElBaradei presented a report on Iran's peaceful nuclear program Saturday.
The report will be the basis of decisions the IAEA Board of Governors will take on Iran's case.
The IAEA Board of Governors is scheduled to meet in Vienna on March 6.
Soltaniyeh, who was talking to IRNA, added the report proves that there is no legal and technical reason for reporting the case to the United Nations Security Council.
"Those countries that gave negative votes to the (IAEA) latest resolution and in particular the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) member states have announced in their official statement that there has been no justification before receiving the (IAEA director general) March report for either reporting or referring Iran's nuclear case (to the UNSC)," he underlined.
Pointing to the report's contents, the envoy said ElBaradei is of the same view he previously had.
"ElBaradei has announced that there is no evidence to prove that (Iran's) nuclear activities have been diverted toward forbidden goals.
"The report clearly mentions that all declared nuclear substances have been thoroughly inspected. It openly says that inspections and tests of environmental samples show that Kolahdouz, Parchin, and Lavizan sites have not used forbidden nuclear substances, nor have they been involved in forbidden activities."
A NAM session opened in the Austrian capital Wednesday.
"The NAM working group has started discussions on a final statement it is to issue in support of Iran's peaceful nuclear activities on the basis of ElBaradei's final report," he said.
