Moscow, Feb 20, IRNA
Iran-Russia-Nuclear
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said here Monday that Moscow hopes that Iran's nuclear dossier will be resolved within the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) framework.

Speaking to reporters following the completion of negotiations between Iranian and Russian nuclear delegations, the Russian foreign minister added that these discussions will continue and any reaction to the outcome is premature.

The discussion between the two sides took five hours on Monday and the delegations also met with Russian National Security Council Sergei Ivanov.

Russian foreign minister further called on Tehran to resume suspension of all uranium enrichment-related activities and to continue meeting with interested parties to hammer-out a desirable outcome.

Lavrov also said the upcoming IAEA meeting in early March to review Iran's nuclear file was pivotal.

He reiterated that Director General of the nuclear watchdog agency Mohammad Elbaradei will prepare his report for the meeting.

"Moscow is hopeful that the report will broach all pertinent issues on Iran's nuclear case as requested by the IAEA."
Deputy Secretary General of Iran's National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Hosseini-Tash also told IRNA that it was decided to continue Tuesday with further detailed studies of the Russian nuclear proposal
Iran's nuclear negotiating team arrived here Monday morning to hold talks with Russian officials on the Russian nuclear proposal in efforts to resolve the nuclear issue. Hosseini-Tash heads the Iranian negotiating team.

Iran had earlier assessed the Russian nuclear proposal as "constructive," saying it may be a positive step towards resolving the nuclear issue if its shortcomings and ambiguities were removed.

Moscow has also expressed its full readiness to set up a joint atomic facility with Iran inside Russian territory.

Most countries and international circles have called on Iran to accept the Russian offer under current circumstances and transfer some of its uranium enrichment activities to Moscow to solve the nuclear problem.

Iran has repeatedly announced it would not renounce its legal right to pursue peaceful nuclear energy within its territory.
