Russia-Iran-Nuclear
Iran's nuclear negotiating team arrived here Monday morning to hold talks with Russian officials on the Russian nuclear proposal in efforts to resolve the nuclear issue.
Iranian and Russian officials are scheduled to begin their second round of talks here today on Russia's proposal to enrich uranium in Iran's behalf. Their first round of talks was held in Tehran earlier this month.
Deputy Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Seyed Ali Hosseini-Tash heads the Iranian negotiating team.
Iran had earlier assessed the Russian nuclear proposal as "constructive," saying it may be a positive step towards resolving the nuclear issue if its shortcomings and ambiguities were removed.
Moscow has also expressed its full readiness to set up a joint atomic facility with Iran inside Russian territory.
Most countries and international circles have called on Iran to accept the Russian offer under current circumstances and transfer some of its uranium enrichment activities to Moscow to solve the nuclear problem.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly announced it would not renounce its legal right to pursue peaceful nuclear energy within its territory.
