President-Interview
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Saturday highlighted the magnificent nationwide rallies on February 11 as indication of public trust in the Islamic Republic and national resolve to proceed with aspirations of the Islamic Revolution.

President Ahmadinejad said that the Islamic Revolution has a variety of dynamic goals which managed to mobilize national capacities to serve them.

In an exclusive interview with IRNA, President Ahmadinejad said that his landslide victory in the presidential election and the platform he had announced ahead of the election proved the extent to which the nation loves aspirations of the Islamic Revolution.

"Since the aspirations of the Islamic Revolution are progressive and dynamic, focusing on them in national planning account for progress and should not at all be interpreted as going back to the past, President Ahmadinejad said in response to progressive aspects of his platform.

He said that the goals of the Islamic Revolution are in line with modern social and scientific progress at the international level and Iranians expressed determination both in the presidential election and the February 11 millions strong rallies nationwide that they expect the government to fulfill the promises made in the presidential election.

The president went on to say some people consider idealism as a kind of dream and rejection of realism, but I want to invite these people to realism because any generation without ideals will accept wrong conducts and would be frozen with no courage to change.

However, Ahmadinejad said, a generation with ideals is able to change situation basically and create new and positive trends.

"When we were students and fighting against former regime, some students were depoliticized and some radical, both groups get into dead end, but the revolutionary forces loyal to the aspirations of Imam Khomeini remained in the scene with enthusiasm as strong as before," the president said.

"Yes, if we fight for power, wealth, fame, revenge and so on, we would be tired, regretful and ashamed, but if we move upon an ideal not individual, we would never get tired or disappointed," President Ahmadinejad argued.

President Mahmoud AhmadiNejad continuing with his exclusive interview with IRNA here Saturday and answering a question on whether the sources of revolutions will be exhausted, said he cannot think of a general or uniform rule for all revolutions.

"I believe that the sources of many of revolutions including Russian and French revolutions which are limited in scope and have monetary aims will not last for eternity," the president added.

But, the Islamic revolution is still vibrant and fresh and the third and fourth generations have sacrificed immensely to perpetuate its continuation, he said.

On a question as to whether Hamas' victory in Palestine may have ramification such as recognizing Israel's right to exist or may face internal squabbles in the future instigated by the US and European powers, he said since the Iranian revolution in 1979 the hegemonic powers are in retreat throughout the region and more of the same movements for freedom will come in the future.

Also, another outcome has been to bring to power many Islamic movements in the region which only is contrary to the US' ostensible democratic aims and have resulted in the opposite of the intended outcome in Iran, Iraq, Lebanon and now Palestine, Ahmadinejad underlined.

Everywhere devote Moslem groups and movements who are committed to confronting colonialists will capture people's votes, the Iranian president said.

He also said that Palestinians are adequately cognizant in thwarting plots by the enemies to sow discord among them and turn them from resisters into 'Westernized democrats and politicians." Nations see Western democracy as both "misleading" and "a lie," the president retorted when asked if people in the region will vote for Islamic parties as evident in recent elections in Egypt, Afghanistan, Hamas in Palestine and Iran.

"Western Democracy suffers from theoretical shortcomings and has opted for a new tactic marked by a new-colonialism.

"If Western nations were truly democratic, they would respect Islam and the choice of Moslems nations."
In the past they supported dictatorships like the Shah and Saddam regimes and now in order to prevent people from receiving the message inspired by the Islamic Revolution in Iran, they pretend to supports democracy, the president added.

Rest assured that some Western nations do not believe in national will, popular vote or people's choices and these are reasons for opposing the Iranian revolution, Ahmadinejad stated.

He also lauded Imam Khomeini for advocating a message of true Islamic principles separate from monetary values often espoused by the West.

Ahmadinejad further said the Westerners are mistakenly under the impression that pressuring Iran will stop the spread of new resurgence in nations.
