"Iran's cooperation led to the impression in the opposite camp that we are ready to meet all their demands.
"These states which put us under pressure by inciting a maniac called Saddam against us but the Iranian nation, through resistance, proved it will not accept threats and humiliation."
Vaeidi added that the West's pressure on Iran is aimed at destroying the country's independence, saying, "It knows that the Iranians, even without nuclear know-how, is a power in the region in view of its civilization, sensitive location in the region and its young and specialized manpower.
"No event will take place in the southern, eastern, western and northern borders without Iran."
The official stressed, "Today, the Islamic Republic of Iran is the factor for stability and peace as a regional power.
"The West knows if Iran attained modern nuclear technology, in addition to its wealth, it will be of great strategic significance." He added, "The issue of Iran's nuclear activities has been just reported to the UN Security Council. The UNSC is not supposed to adopt any military option against Iran."
