Anti-Iran propaganda, politically motivated: Iranian envoy

Iran's Ambassador to India Siavash Zargar Ya'qoubi said that the poisonous propaganda against Iran's nuclear programs is politically motivated.
In a message to Indian nation which was broadcast by Indian national television channel on the occasion of 27th victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, the Iranian envoy briefed the Indian nation on Iran's achievements gained in the past 27 years in different areas.
The Islamic Republic of Iran considers the peaceful use of nuclear energy as the legitimate right of its own and of all world countries, he said adding that it also considers the monopolistic attitude of some particular countries in this regard as violation of rights of all countries for securing their long-term energy needs.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has so far had full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) including some 1,200 person/day inspections while voluntarily accepting the Additional Protocol, he said adding that the IAEA inspectors could find no deviation from Iran's peaceful nuclear activities.
He reiterated that the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is based on the expansion of bilateral relations with all countries, particularly the regional states.
Reduction of tension and guaranteeing peace and stability in the South and West Asia is one of the strategic policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran, he added.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has from the very beginning been the victim of the ominous phenomenon of terrorism and has repeatedly condemned the terrorist activities and killing of the defenseless people and has also demanded launching of a global movement against this phenomenon, the Iranian envoy noted.
The Islamic Republic, which is based on the will of the people, has introduced and materialized democracy on the basis of teachings of Islam, he said.
Referring to Tehran-New Delhi ancient and amicable ties, Ya'qoubi said the volume of bilateral trade stood at dlrs four billion in 2004.
Iran's exports to India increased by 48 percent while its imports from that country registered a growth of 32 percent during the period, he added.
