Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi here Sunday said last November Majlis ratification had urged suspension of voluntary cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) if Iran is either reported or referred to the United Nations Security Council.
Asefi made the remark at his weekly press conference.
"Voluntary measures were not among Iran's duties. Iran carried out such measures following an agreement with Europe.
"We need (another) Majlis ratification to implement further voluntary measures beyond our duties within the framework of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)."
The spokesman, however, reiterated that Majlis had called for suspension of voluntary cooperation with the UN watchdog if Iran were either reported or referred to the Security Council.
"President (Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) has also ordered that Majlis approval be enforced (in case the country is reported or referred to the UNSC)," Asefi revealed.
