Iranian deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, Abbas Araghchi said Europe's 'wrong negotiation tactic' with Iran has triggered the nuclear conflict.

"Unfortunately the current situation was caused by Europe's wrong negotiation tactic. It was unnecessary to spark such conflict," said Araghchi on Saturday during the opening session of the 42nd Munich Security Conference.

"Iran had repeatedly announced its readiness to continue the talks with Europe in an effort to achieve a formula for the next step which would have been enrichment on a commercial level. But unfortunately our proposal was ignored," he added.

Araghchi pointed out Iran cooperated fully with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) over the past three years.

"Iran opened its nuclear facilities to the (IAEA) nuclear inspectors. Iran has never pursued nuclear weapons and this is proven by our close cooperation with the IAEA inspectors over the last three years," the Iranian official said.

Araghchi is heading the Iranian delegation at the three-day Munich security meeting.
