Iran-Ahmadinejad-Independence
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speaking at a gathering of people in Bushehr's Shahid Beheshti Stadium on Wednesday said that the fragile world powers should notice that the Iranian nation has been independent for the past 27 years.

Speaking on the first day of his sixth provincial visit simultaneous with the anniversary of the historical return of the Founder of Islamic Revolution the late Imam Khomeini to Iran, he added that despite the measures taken by the big powers against Iran, the nation has been doing its best towards development over the past 27 years.

The president noted that the Iranian nation mainly relies upon its will and efforts and will continue the path of progress and advancement.

He referred to the obstacles facing the Iranian nation on the path of science and technology and added that the present enemies of the Islamic ruling system, who used to fully cooperate with the former dependent regime of Iran before the Islamic Revolution, counter the legitimate and lawful requests of the nation.

"The countries whose arsenals are stockpiled with nuclear and biological weapons resist the scientific research and progress currently underway in Iran and presume that the Iranian nation will follow them.

"Given our belief that use of nuclear energy is the inalienable right of the Iranian nation, we will continue our efforts to fully restore it," he added.

The president said that Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant is expected to become operational in the coming Iranian year (starting March 21) and said that according to Majlis ratification, nuclear power stations will be developed to generate 20,000 MWs of electricity.

"Our country will not overlook its rights, nor will it yield to world hegemonic powers, which consider themselves as owners of the whole world. The Iranian nation will rather outcry, `Nuclear Energy is our inalienable right'," he added.

In reaction to the remarks of the US President George W. Bush accusing Iran of violating human rights and freedom, he said that he who became president in his country's election by spending a billion dollars and through the verdict of the court now stakes claims to human rights.

"Those whose hands are stained with the blood of world people, who have staged wars in various points, who are killing oppressed and defenseless people and who have taken more than 60 million lives in a single world war, currently accuse our nation of violating human rights and freedom. This is while, they have no right to claim they are advocates of human rights and freedom," he added.

Following his speech, the chief executive left Bushehr for the provincial town of Deilam, where he is scheduled to meet people.
