Iran says political motives can further complicate situation

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Feb 1, IRNA
Iran-Nuclear-Statement
Iran Wednesday said that political motives can make the situation more complicated and difficult.

Iran's Foreign Ministry issued a statement in reaction to a Tuesday decision by the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council to the effect that the Thursday meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) should report Iran to the UNSC over its nuclear program.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran did its best towards full transparency, removal of ambiguities and building confidence through its complete commitment to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), the Additional Protocol and its voluntary implementation, allowing inspections and even measures beyond the protocol.

"And while the negotiations path is still open and there are considerable opportunities to reach a rational solution, political motives make the situation more complicated and
difficult," the statement said.
