Asefi: Iran favors dialogue

Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi here Saturday said that Iran's policy is based on dialogue, given that it results in understanding.
Speaking to the media in his weekly briefing, he pointed to Iran's call upon Europe to resume negotiation and added that a person of ration does not avoid dialogue.
"We believe that positive results can be attained through dialogue.
"Iran has been cooperating closely with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and will continue such collaboration in future," he noted.
In response to a question about imposing more limitation on the activity of foreign reporters in Iran, he said, "There are two outlooks on the issue, one is to retaliate, given that our reporters overseas, particularly in the US, face some limitations.
"The other is that if a country violates law and prevents flow of information, there is no reason for Iran to counteract by repeating such unlawful measure."
He pointed to the group saying that, as a free country encouraging free flow of information, Iran better let foreign reporters give coverage to domestic developments, given the interest for reflection of the truth about the country.
Concerning the evidence of the pressures upon and threats against Iran leading to its nuclear cooperation, he pointed to referral of Iran's dossier to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) as one such evidence.
Asefi said that Iran is not worried about such referral and underlined that however this will be an unfavorable approach.
"The question is not Europe's' lack of confidence, but Iran has also lost its confidence.
"The reason for their claim that Iran has diverted from peaceful nuclear policy is unclear to us, given that the reports issued by the UN nuclear watchdog are in conflict with it," he added.
Asefi stressed that nuclear weapons are banned by Iran's security and defense doctrine and that Europe and US are attempting to create a turbulent atmosphere
The Foreign Ministry spokesman reminded the West that if they are determined to campaign against nuclear weapons, they should tackle the Zionist regime.
He stressed once more that negotiation and avoiding pressure and threat will be the best way for settlement of the issue and said that neither pressure nor threat will influence the Iranian people.
