Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here Wednesday there was a faint possibility Iran's nuclear dossier would be sent to the UN Security Council.
Mottaki was speaking to IRNA on the sidelines of the parliament's open session on Iran's nuclear case.
"We see the possibility of Iran's nuclear case being referred to the Security Council as remote considering current circumstances," he said.
Asked about the resumption of negotiations on the nuclear issue, he expressed hope "the European states would be able to grasp Iran's transparent and clear message and position and would not impose difficult conditions as well as make hasty and false decisions as claimed by other countries."
"Resumption of certain areas of nuclear research differs from nuclear fuel production.
"Over the past 10 days we strived to clarify this important issue in talks with Europe's negotiators, either by exchanging messages or holding negotiations with other members of the governing board of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) including China, Russia and Non-Aligned Movement members.
Mottaki said he had expressed his country's readiness to continue negotiations particularly on the most important issue of uranium enrichment.
