Iran has not crossed any red line and will continue its serious cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi here Sunday.
Addressing domestic and foreign reporters in his weekly press briefing, Asefi said diplomacy is the only right way to address the current situation.
"We believe negotiation is the only right way to find a solution that makes all sides contented," stressed the spokesman adding, "In this way, both Iran will achieve its rights and the concerns of the West and Europe will be allayed."
The spokesman further stressed the language of threat and pressure is no longer effective with respect to Iran.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran could not be restricted merely on the basis of a series of imaginary hypothesis," he said.
Reiterating Tehran's readiness for negotiations, Asefi said "The government follows a policy of negotiation."
He also recommended the Europeans to "try to be reasonable." Rejecting the necessity of holding an emergency meeting of the UN nuclear watchdog, Asefi stressed there is no legal basis for referring Iran's case to the United Nations Security Council.
"Tehran is not afraid of being referred to the council," stressed the spokesman.
He also noted that securing its national interests was the Islamic Republic of Iran's red line.
"And if somebody says that Iran has crossed the red line (international regulations)," Asefi added, "May be, he or she means that Iran should not seek its national interests."
Asked if Tehran has considered any strategy in case of being referred to the security council, Asefi said, "Let's avoid any speculations.
"Tehran has, definitely, considered the necessary strategies and feels no concerns in this respect (referral to the UNSC)." Asked if the resumed research activities would include "limited enrichment (of uranium), the spokesman said "Research had a clear and internationally recognized standard definition and Iran has the same internationally accepted definition for it."
