Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said here Saturday Iran does not want to hold negotiations with the European Union trio just for the sake of negotiations. He expressed hope the Europeans would follow up talks more seriously.

Haddad-Adel made the remark while talking to IRNA on the sidelines of an official ceremony held here to welcome the visiting President of Tajikistan's Assembly of Representatives Saidullo Khairullayev.

Asked about the new round of nuclear talks between Iran and the EU3 (Germany, France and Britain), reopened in Vienna on Wednesday, he said, "The Europeans are well aware of the will of the Iranian nation and government on restoration of their rights.

"Our policy during previous weeks showed we are serious in opposition to wasting time and just holding negotiations." In response to a question on measures Iran would adopt if the Europeans set suspension of enrichment activities during talks as their condition, the speaker said, "This issue should be left for future. We have repeatedly announced our stance.

"We should wait to see what issues they (the Europeans) will raise.

"There is no reason to express our pessimism beforehand." 2327/1412
