Iran-Nuclear Talks-Austria
The second round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the EU3 started behind closed doors at Iran's representative office in the Vienna-based International Center at 15:30 hours local time (18:00 hours Tehran time) on Wednesday.
Deputy of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) for International Affairs Javad Vaeedi heading the negotiating team told IRNA that during the talks the two sides expressed their outlooks on Iran's nuclear activities.
Vaeedi said that the first round provided a good opportunity for both sides to get acquainted with each other's approach towards the issue.
The SNSC Deputy for Economic Affairs Mohammad Nahavandian, Deputy Head of Iran Atomic Energy Organization for International Affairs Mohammad Saeedi, Iranian Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohammad-Mehdi Akhoundzadeh and Deputy Director-General for Political and International Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh comprise the Iranian negotiating delegation.
The European team includes 12 senior experts and managers from the foreign ministries of Britain, France and Germany.
The nuclear talks between Iran and Europe, which were suspended in August by the European side following Iran's announcement that it was resuming uranium enrichment at its uranium conversion facility in Isfahan.
The reporters awaiting the outcome of the afternoon session, predict that achieving a tangible outcome is quite unlikely and consider `reaching agreement on continuing talks in January 2006' as the ceiling of success.
