Larijani: Iranians are determined to continue with uranium enrichment

Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Nishida Tsuneo conferred here Monday with Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and Iran's top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani on the country's peaceful application of nuclear technology.
Speaking to reporters, Larijani said the Iranians are determined to seriously continue the uranium enrichment process.
Highlighting the prospects of the upcoming meeting between the Islamic Republic of Iran and three European countries on nuclear issues, he said the important fact is that the negotiations would be conducted with seriousness and the level at which it is held not of prime importance and in case it is felt that the talks are fruitful, they will be continued.
On the composition of Iran's nuclear negotiating team, he said SNSC Deputy for International Affairs Javad Veidi is to head the Iranian negotiating team and experts from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Iran's Atomic Energy Organization would accompany him.
Turning to the focus of Iran's negotiations with the three European countries, he said, "The pivot of the talks would be non-diversion of nuclear activities and we hope that these negotiations to recognize Iran's legitimate rights and bear fruitful results."
Refuting the psychological propaganda on international mistrust of Iran, he said the negotiations aim to resolve issues and
misunderstandings between the two parties.
On recent allegations by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to refer Iran's nuclear dossier to the UN Security Council, he said "We do not take such statements seriously while we believe in a win-win game."
On recent stance taken by the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC), he said these stands are not of prime importance while NAM countries unanimously support Iran's nuclear activities.
Larijani called Japan a historical country in Asia which has always maintained high political and economic ties with Iran.
Extensive cooperation between the two countries have created very good grounds for expansion of mutual cooperation, exchange of views which could be crucial in resolving international problems, he pointed out.
The Japanese deputy foreign minister told reporters that the Islamic Republic of Iran as a very big country plays a very significant role in the region and expressed the hope to witness further expansion of ties between Iran and Japan.
On Iran's peaceful nuclear activities, he said, "We hope Iran's nuclear dossier would be resolved thorough political and diplomatic means."
In a response to a question on whether US and Japan had held talks to impose probable sanctions over Iran, he said, "I have no information about this."
On Iran and three European countries negotiations, he said Japan hopes that the two parties will sincerely deal with the issue to positively conduct the negotiations.
Japan wishes that Iran's nuclear issue would be resolved by political means in a bid to prepare grounds for Japan's involvement in the sector.
