Iran acquired peaceful nuclear technology by itself: Official

Iran is the first country which has acquired nuclear technology for peaceful purposes by itself, Head of the Presiding and Inspection Board of the High Council of Cultural Revolution, Hassan Ghafourifard, said on Tuesday.
"All Western countries have got united to prevent Iran from this technology," Ghafourifard said in a gathering of the Union of Traders and Businessmen Islamic Associations.
He said just five countries possess giant nuclear arsenals, adding, "Unfortunately, such countries would not like the Islamic Republic to carry out its peaceful nuclear activities."
He pointed to different applications of nuclear energy in various fields of agriculture, science and medicine and said, "This technology causes no pollution and is very useful and effective in the industry, medicine and agriculture sectors.
"Use of nuclear technology in Iran's agriculture can lead to the country's self-sufficiency."
