FM says world should be free of WMD

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki Said here Monday that "not only the Middle East but the whole world should be free of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)."
The Foreign Ministry Media Department reported that in a meeting with new Lithuanian Accredited Ambassador to Tehran Vitaytas Nadazaz who presented a copy of his credentials to Mottaki, the Iranian foreign minister added that Iran's religious and national beliefs rule out any role for nuclear weapons.

"Iran has proposed the Middle East to become a nuclear free Zone." On the latest developments between Iran and Lithuania, he added that Iran's foreign policy is based on the principle of dialogue in international affairs.

The Lithuanian ambassador also expressed condolence on the crash of the military airplane in Tehran last week.

He also said that his country is keen on developing bilateral political and economic relations with Tehran.
