Larijani terms US proposal for talks with Iran 'promotional'

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Dec 3, IRNA
Iran-US-Larijani
Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), Ali Larijani, said on Saturday the US proposal on holding talks with Iran on Iraq developments was promotional and media gesture.

Larijani made the remark while talking to reporters after a meeting with Secretary General of Iraq's Fazilat Party Nadeem al-Jaberi.

"No precise proposal has been offered to Iran. So we cannot express view about an issue on which no precise proposal has been presented," Larijani said in response to IRNA reporter that whether the SNSC would debate the US proposal.

Asked about the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Mohamed ElBaradei's call for the US presence in nuclear talks, he said, "Iran has received no official request, which for example proposes the negotiating team. It is just a maneuver.

"Expression of views cannot be prevented. Each party may present solutions to settle international issues as per respective strategy," Larijani said.
