European Union High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana said Friday that the decision by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Thursday not to go for a vote on the Iran nuclear issue was intended "to put pressure on Iran to negotiate."
"The objectives have not changed, but we wanted to give more time for people to think and really behave in the appropriate manner so that negotiations can continue and the objective can be achieved," Solana said in statements made to IRNA in Brussels.
The EU-3 (Germany, France and the UK) and Iran are expected to resume nuclear negotiations in December.
