Larijani: Nuclear talks should recognize right to enrichment, fuel cycle

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Nov 23, IRNA
Iran-Nuclear-Larijani
Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani said here on Wednesday that talks, if any, on Iran's nuclear case should be based on recognizing Tehran's right to enrichment and possessing nuclear fuel cycle.

Larijani told reporters after a meeting with visiting Afghan Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah that resumption of talks should fall within a definite frame, goal and time.

He said the talks, being devoid of any definite frame, objective and time, would be futile and non-constructive.

He added that in order to be constructive, the talks should follow a specific frame, goal and time, otherwise would mean losing chance.

Larijani said one should wait until resumption of the talks is officially raised so that a clearer stance could be adopted on the issue.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Larijani said that under present conditions, there are new ways for dialogue and cooperation with the IAEA and he held a positive approach on the issue.

He said that he held a positive approach towards pursuing Iranian nation's nuclear rights, terming the call of Iranian nation in connection with its nuclear rights as logical.

He said referral of Iran's case to the UN Security Council does not follow any specific logic.

He predicted that the IAEA Board's Thursday meeting would be soft tuned.

He refuted claims that Russia had proposed enrichment of Isfahan Uranium Conversion Facility's products on Russian territory.
