The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) troika and the European Union started a joint meeting on Iran's nuclear program here on Wednesday behind closed doors.
A diplomat of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) told IRNA that the meeting of representatives of NAM troika (Malaysia, South Africa and Cuba) and EU/3 (France, Britain and Germany), has special importance.
The diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity, said outcome of this joint meeting would determine the process of the IAEA governing board's seasonal meeting on Iran, scheduled on November 24.
He added the participants will strive to bring closer their stance on Iran's nuclear case.
The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) on Wednesday called for urgent normalization of Iran's nuclear case. The call has also been included in the NAM statement which will be read during the IAEA Board of Governors' meeting on Thursday.
There is a wide difference between the EU and the NAM.
The European Union, backed by the United States, insists on UN Security Council referral of Iranian nuclear case, but, the NAM member states call for normalization of Iran's nuclear case and settlement of remaining issues and ambiguities within the framework of UN nuclear watchdog.
The IAEA governing board will start its meeting on Thursday under circumstances that Europe and the US failed to gain a consensus among the member states to refer Iran's nuclear case to the Security Council thanks to baselessness of their allegations against Iran.
Iran has proved to IAEA that Iranian nuclear program is civilian and in line with Safeguards Agreement of the UN agency.
