Ahead of the crucial meeting of the IAEA on Iran's nuclear issue later this month, External Affairs Minister K.
Natwar Singh on Friday discussed the matter with his counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, during which the latter said all efforts would be made to reach a consensus.
Lavrov, who called Singh, informed him that Russia was in touch with the EU-3, China, the US and Iran on the issue, External Affairs Ministry Spokesman Navtej Sarna said.
The spokesman quoted the Russian foreign minister as saying "all efforts would be made to reach a consensus on the issue" and that India would be kept informed.
The IAEA meeting on the Iran nuclear issue has been scheduled for November 24. The US has threatened referral of the issue to the UN Security Council if Tehran does not go back to the negotiating table by then.
India has said it wanted the issue to be resolved amicably without being referred to the Scurity Council.
