Iran calls on Annan to postpone visit to Tehran Iran

Iran has asked UN Secretary-General Kofi Anan to pospone his visit to Tehran to a more suitable opportunity, said an informed source at Iran's Foreign Ministry Friday afternoon.
The sourse said the foreign ministry had instructed its mission at the United Nation to ask Anan to visit Iran at a more appropriate time in the future.
The UN secretary general had earlier expressed willingness to discuss regional and international issues with senior Iranian officials in a visit to Tehran.
IRNA is trying to obtain further information on the issue from the Foreign Ministry spokesman.
UN secretary general had said on thursday he woud go on with his visit to tetehran according to the pre-determined plan despite the request by a number of US congressmen to put off his visit.
A number of member of the US congress had asked Anan to cancel his visit to Tehran in protest to statements of Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a gathering dubbed "World Without Zionism".
