The nuclear talks of the three European Union countries (France, Britain and Germany) with Iran are aimed at making Iran reliant on western nuclear fuel supply, a German political expert and leading peace activist said.
"In fact the objective of the EU3 talks is to make Iran nuclear dependent on the West," said the head of the 'Peace and Future Workshop' Karl-Heinz Peil during a roundtable discussion entitled 'Germany and Iran: Active Peace Policy or Support for US War Strategy' at the DGB Trade Union House in Frankfurt.
"In other words, the West wants Iran to get its basic nuclear fuel supply from Europe. And should the Iranians refuse to do so, the Europeans would use the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as a political pressure instrument by continuously passing various anti-Iran resolutions," he added.
Peil stressed Iran is pursuing a nuclear energy program to meet its growing energy needs in the coming years and remains also committed to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
"The truth is that Iran's nuclear program poses not only no danger to any of its neighbors but has in fact become a source of solidarity among other countries, especially those that have lost out in the economic globalization process," Peil said, pointing to Tehran's steadfast opposition to cave in to European and US pressures.
He added only two countries in the world are worried over Iran's nuclear program -- America and Israel.
