Iran-Convention against Chemical Weapons
Majlis Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy on Tuesday passed context of International Convention against production, stockpiling and use of chemical weapons and elimination of chemical weapons.
Iran signed up to International Convention against Chemical Weapons (CCW) when it was first put to signature at the United Nations. The commission's approval of the convention paved the way for its ratification by the Majlis.
Member of the commission Kazem Jalali said that ratification of the convention will indicate goodwill on part of the Islamic Republic of Iran toward international conventions.
Asked about fate of Majlis motion to suspend Additional Protocol to Non-Proliferation Treaty in protest at anti-Iran resolution of Governing Board of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on September 24, Jalali said that parliamentary commission has not reached a consensus on the issue yet.
