MP: Iran not quitting NPT

The head of the Majlis Commission for National Security and Foreign Policy, Aladdin Boroujerdi, said here Sunday that Iran is presently not considering quitting the Non-Proliferation Treaty.
He made the remark at the weekly meeting of Tehran's Ansar-e Hezbollah where he also stressed that Iran would use all its power and resources to prevent referral of its nuclear case to the United Nation's Security Council.
He said that Iran would never cower to the greed of Western powers and said not only the Iranian government but the nation as well insisted on the country gaiing access to peaceful nuclear technology.
The MP further referred to US attempts to block Iran from gaining access to peaceful nuclear technoloy, and said 18 years of hard work by Iranian scientists on the country's nuclear installations has now reached a point which the West could never have imagined.
