Nuclear apartheid damages Int'l stability balance: FM statement
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Sept 27, IRNA
Iran believes that double-standard policy and nuclear apartheid damage balance and stability of international security system, posing serious threat to the future of humanity, a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry said Monday evening.
The Islamic Republic of Iran underlines the need to consolidate principled bonds among member states of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and therefore calls for collective cooperation while taking some considerations into account, it added.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran considers full and
non-discriminatory implementation of the Articles of Association as a sensitive task for all members, the General Assembly and the Board of Governors in particular.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran considers the IAEA as the only qualified body responsible for establishing nuclear technological balance and terms any unofficial, unilateral and non-legal intervention by the agency as a serious threat to future
management of the international nuclear technology.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran considers enjoying full nuclear fuel cycle on the basis of Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) as its own legitimate right" the Foreign Ministry statement added.
The statement further voiced Iran's readiness to welcome any attempt to achieve full understanding on nuclear issue within the framework of the NPT, the IAEA Articles of Association, and safeguard agreement.
"Unless the resolution is corrected and if there is
insistence on its implementation, the Islamic Republic of Iran will be forced to cancel all its voluntary and temporary concessions including implementation of the Additional Protocol," it said.
The statement said Tehran does not accept ignorance of legitimate rights and sovereignty of countries and rejects all non-legal requests.
"The threat of sending Iran's nuclear case to the UN Security Council will not make any change in Tehran's principled stands and will be of no help in settling the issue," the statement said.
All investigations and reports by the IAEA prove Iran's commitment to the NPT and emphasize peaceful nature of the country's nuclear activities, it said adding that therefore, Tehran considers the accusation of non-commitment as a completely political issue which lacks any legal basis.
"The Islamic Republic announces equal interaction as its behavioral strategy in the area of nuclear technology and stresses diplomatic framework and negotiations as basis for successful performance," the statement said voicing Iran's readiness for accepting any constructive and practical suggestion.
Iran welcomes negotiations with different countries to facilitate the IAEA activities and invites the EU3 to opt for interaction and negotiations to reach understanding, the statement concluded.
