Iran top nuclear negotiator arrives in Pakistan
Islamabad, Sept 7, IRAN - Iran's new nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani arrived here early Wednesday for talks on bilateral matters. Pakistan's Additional Secretary Tariq Usman Haider and other senior officials received Larijani upon his arrival.

Larijani in his day-long visit will discuss with the Pakistani leadership, Iran's peaceful nuclear programme and matters of mutual interest between the two countries.

He will also hold talks with Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri later Wednesday.

The Iranian official will also call on President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on the same day.

Larijani told IRNA that Iran enjoys cordial relations with Pakistan in all fields.

The Iranian nuclear negotiator was earlier scheduled to arrive here Monday but the visit was rescheduled for Wednesday.

Larijani has served as the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance and the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei's representative to the Supreme National Security Council.

He was appointed the country's chief nuclear negotiator by the new Iranian president to replace Hasan Rohani.

Pakistan on several occasions supported Iran to continue its peaceful nuclear programme and is opposing use of force against Iran.

Foreign Office Spokesman Naeem Khan on Monday once again called for negotiated settlement of Iran's nuclear issue.
