IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Vienna, Aug 27, IRNA
Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), Ali Larijani, here Friday expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of talks with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Chief Mohamed ElBaradei on Iran's nuclear programs.

Talking to IRNA, he underscored the importance of holding such friendly negotiations with the agency.

"Iran's nuclear activities are under the IAEA supervision. We believe our activities should be carried out on the basis of regulations of this international body," he noted.

Larijani said during his meeting with ElBaradei, the two sides called for an appropriate mechanism through which the IAEA would continue its routine examination of Iran's nuclear activities.

Pointing to Iran's willingness to hold talks with various countries, the SNSC secretary said side negotiations with different states would help the IAEA reach an appropriate solution.

He added no hasty measure should be adopted in the process of Iran's nuclear dossier.

Since the proposed ministers of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad have just received votes of confidence from the Parliament, the Iranian president should be given enough time to present his initiatives to settle the problem, he said.

Larijani further welcomed proposals by other states on continuation of cooperation within the framework of holding negotiations, saying Tehran tries to make use of all opportunities.

The SNSC secretary invited ElBaradei to visit Iran to continue negotiations. The invitation was accepted by the IAEA chief.
