Iran will not accept full uranium enrichment suspension: Speaker

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, July 31, IRNA
Iran-Speaker-Nuke
Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said here Sunday Iran will not accept full suspension of uranium enrichment.

Hadad-Adel made the remark addressing the open session of the Majlis.

"If the three European states (Germany, Britain and France) consider `objective guarantee' as full suspension of uranium enrichment, the Islamic Republic of Iran would not accept it as it runs counter to the Paris agreement and the (International Atomic Energy) Agency's articles of association," he said.

In the EU jargon, "objective guarantees" is the codeword implying that Iran has to put a total stop to its nuclear
enrichment programme, not just to suspend it.

"Iran is waiting for the EU-3 proposal. We have suspended enrichment activities voluntarily to prove our goodwill and want the EU-3 to clarify their intention behind `objective guarantee.' "Why the European troika consider not engaging in nuclear activities as the only way to gain confidence while Iran opened its nuclear facilities to the IAEA inspectors and gave convincing answers to all questions and ambiguities?"
The speaker stressed, "All political groups and currents in Iran unanimously believe that it is inalienable right of the country to enjoy peaceful nuclear technology and that no one is allowed to deprive Iran of this right."
The government and the negotiating team are obliged to adhere to continue peaceful nuclear activities based on Majlis ratification and cannot give up this right, he said.

Haddad-Adel expressed hope that negotiations would go on without any waste of time and procrastination in a way to keep the door open for future talks.

"Iran has left no excuse (for the EU) to mistrust its peaceful nuclear activities and is ready to resume enrichment activities it suspended to prove its goodwill."
The speaker said Iran has done all it should have, adding "It is now the turn of Europe to fulfill its promises."
