EU-Iran-Package
The European Union will offer a "global package" to Iran in the month of August to resolve the nuclear issue, EU diplomatic sources told IRNA in Brussels Monday.
The package will include nuclear, technology, trade, economic and security elements, said the sources.
''It is a very generous, significant and important offer,'' said the sources speaking on condition of anonymity. The package is under discussion and preparation.
The EU will help and support Iran's nuclear program if he Islamic Republic gives objective guarantees that its nuclear program is for civilian purposes, said the sources.
British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw briefed EU Foreign Ministers Monday on the EU-Iran negotiations. EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana also spoke on EU-Iran relations, said the sources.
The UK holds the current EU Presidency.
''We are interested in developing our relations with Iran. There is no change in our position,'' stressed the sources.
