Iran-EU-Rafsanjani
Chairman of Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Monday that prospect of Iran-EU relations depends on appropriate settlement of nuclear issue.
In a meeting with Portuguese Ambassador to Iran Jose Manuel da Costa Arsenio, Rafsanjani said that Iran-EU talks on Iran's nuclear program has turned into a major issue for the future of relations between the two parties.
"We expect EU to deal with Iranian nuclear program realistically and in line with international conventions," Rafsanjani said.
On Iran-Lisbon economic cooperation, Rafsanjani said that competition has become main feature of global economy and appropriate policy should be adopted for encouraging Iranian and Portuguese businessmen to foster cooperation.
He said that Iranian economic policy has been based on encouraging the private sector to pave the way for Iran's active presence in the world trade.
The Portuguese ambassador pointed to long-standing background of Iran-Portugal relations and said that the Lisbon government would do its best to develop political, cultural and economic cooperation.
He hoped that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the EU would bolster bilateral relations to prepare the ground for more extensive cooperation.
